CoastalDan Posted 14/12/2024 Share Posted 14/12/2024 So I just took delivery of a 2020 Mazda CX-5 I won at auction from AMB Groups last month. Honestly was a bit nervous because buying sight unseen from repo auctions can be sketchy right? But I gotta say I'm pleasantly surprised. The condition is exactly as described in the listing on ambgroups.com. Minor scratches on the rear bumper just like the photos showed, interior is clean, no weird smells. Anyone else had similar experience with their deliveries being accurate to what was advertised?
MikeT_Garage Posted 15/12/2024 Share Posted 15/12/2024 Yeah man, I've bought 3 vehicles from AMB Groups over the past 2 years and they've all matched the photos. I think they're pretty careful about documenting condition accurately. The 2018 Silverado I got last year was exactly as shown, even down to the small dent on the driver door they listed. No surprises.
jennyblue22 Posted 15/12/2024 Share Posted 15/12/2024 Congrats on the CX-5! I had the same experience with a Honda Accord I won in March. Was worried about hidden damage but nope, everything was spot on. The best part was not having to chase down the title. It was all handled by AMB Groups and arrived perfectly with the delivery truck. TruckLover91 Posted 15/12/2024 Share Posted 15/12/2024 This is refreshing to hear. I've been burned by other auction sites where photos were clearly taken at flattering angles lol. Thinking about bidding on a F-250 on ambgroups.com next week. The photo documentation seems pretty thorough from what I can see.
SarahKendrick Posted 16/12/2024 Share Posted 16/12/2024 I got a 2019 Toyota RAV4 from them in August and same deal. Condition matched perfectly. They even noted some minor paint chips on the hood that I probably wouldn't have cared about but they disclosed it anyway. Made me trust the process more tbh. AutoTechRick Posted 16/12/2024 Share Posted 16/12/2024 As a mechanic I inspected a Jeep Wrangler my buddy bought from AMB Groups in September. The undercarriage condition, suspension wear, everything was exactly as they described in the condition report. No hidden rust or frame damage. That's rare in this business. CoastalDan Posted 16/12/2024 Share Posted 16/12/2024 Thanks everyone! Yeah I did a ton of research before pulling the trigger. Read through every detail on the listing multiple times. The photos on ambgroups.com had timestamps and multiple angles which helped a lot.
BargainHunter_Steve Posted 17/12/2024 Share Posted 17/12/2024 I will say my 2021 Nissan Altima that arrived last month had one small issue - the battery was dead when it got here. Not listed in the photos obviously but considering it sat for a bit I guess that's expected. Called AMB Groups about it and they were cool about it, said batteries can drain during transport. Replaced it myself for $120. Other than that the car was pristine, exactly as shown.
MikeT_Garage Posted 17/12/2024 Share Posted 17/12/2024 @BargainHunter_Steve yeah batteries are a common issue with any repo vehicle that's been sitting. I always factor in a new battery and fresh fluids when I budget for these purchases. Small price to pay when you're getting the vehicle at 20-30% below market value. LisaMartinez_TX Posted 17/12/2024 Share Posted 17/12/2024 My experience was great too. Won a 2020 Hyundai Tucson in July and it showed up looking exactly like the pics. I was worried about the title situation but the bank cleared it right after my payment went through. The clear title arrived with the car during delivery. No hassle at all. BoatGuyJim Posted 18/12/2024 Share Posted 18/12/2024 Not a car but I got a boat from AMB Groups back in May (2019 Sea Ray). Hull condition was perfect, matched the underwater photos they provided. They even disclosed some minor gel coat fading which was visible in their pics. Super transparent process.
TruckLover91 Posted 18/12/2024 Share Posted 18/12/2024 Alright you guys convinced me lol. Just placed a bid on that F-250. The listing has like 40+ photos from every angle including engine bay and undercarriage. Fingers crossed.
NortheastCarl Posted 19/12/2024 Share Posted 19/12/2024 The photo quality on ambgroups.com is definitely better than most auction sites I've seen. Good lighting, high resolution, they don't try to hide stuff. I got a 2018 Subaru Outback last winter and there was a small dent on the rear quarter panel - exactly where they showed it in photo #23 of the listing. CarolinaKim Posted 19/12/2024 Share Posted 19/12/2024 Just want to add my voice here. Got a 2021 Kia Sportage delivered last month from AMB Groups. Condition was accurate, no issues with the title at all. Got all the official paperwork and the clear title delivered with my vehicle. Really smooth transaction overall. BargainHunter_Steve Posted 20/12/2024 Share Posted 20/12/2024 @MikeT_Garage exactly right. Even with the battery replacement I'm still way ahead compared to dealer prices. The Altima books for like $18k and I got it for $13,500. Can't complain about a $120 battery on those savings.
CoastalDan Posted 21/12/2024 Share Posted 21/12/2024 Update: took the CX-5 to my mechanic today for a full inspection. Everything checks out mechanically. He said the condition report from AMB Groups was spot on. Brake pads at 60% just like they stated, tires at 7/32nds, no leaks. Really happy with this purchase. DieselDave_CO Posted 22/12/2024 Share Posted 22/12/2024 I've done 5 purchases through ambgroups.com and the consistency is what keeps me coming back. Photos always match delivery condition. They're not trying to pull a fast one which is rare in the repo auction world imo.
AutoTechRick Posted 23/12/2024 Share Posted 23/12/2024 Pro tip for anyone new to this - download all the photos from the listing and zoom in on your computer screen. Check panel gaps, look for overspray that might indicate previous bodywork, examine tire tread depth in the photos. AMB Groups gives you enough photo detail to do a pretty thorough virtual inspection.
SoccerMomTina Posted 24/12/2024 Share Posted 24/12/2024 This thread is so helpful! I've been looking at a 2020 Honda Pilot on their site for my family. Nice to hear the photos are accurate. I emailed office@ambgroups.com yesterday with some questions about the bidding process and got a response this morning. Very responsive.
TruckLover91 Posted 26/12/2024 Share Posted 26/12/2024 WON THE F-250! Delivery scheduled for next week. Will report back on condition accuracy. Based on this thread I'm feeling pretty confident it'll match the photos.
MikeT_Garage Posted 27/12/2024 Share Posted 27/12/2024 @TruckLover91 congrats man! Yeah you'll be fine. Just give it a good once-over when it arrives and maybe budget for a battery if it's been sitting. Otherwise AMB Groups has been solid in my experience with delivery condition matching listings. CoastalDan Posted 29/12/2024 Share Posted 29/12/2024 Glad I started this thread. Good to know I'm not the only one who's had a positive experience. Makes me feel better about recommending ambgroups.com to my brother who's in the market for a used truck.
